Valentines Themed Activities Setup

For this activity pack you will need:

Paper 

Printer

Lego or manipulatives for counting

Scissors

Clips or wooden pegs

Paperclip to use as spinner or prepared plastic spinners

Writing tools – crayon, pencil, etc

Optional but recommended: Laminator and dry erase markers for use in a center and increasing durability

Printable Valentines Literacy and Math Centers

This pack contains a variety of 10 themed centers that will develop literacy, early math and fine motor skills.

Games included:

1) Alphabet Clip Strips – Kids will identify the matching lower and uppercase letters of the one shown. Using wooden pegs, they can work on fine motor skills and literacy at the same time!

2) Letter Case Matching Hearts – 2 piece alphabet puzzles for early learners.

3) Spin and Cover Letters – Print out the 5 letter identification mats for A-Z. They can be used with plastic spinner or a simple paperclip and pencil combination. Spin and find the letters on the mat until all have been covered.

4) Valentines Vowels – Print out and cut up the sheets into individual cards. Get your child to fill in the missing vowels of the common CVC words shown. There are 40 cards included (8 each for A,E,I,O,U). Laminate the cards and write with dry-erase markers for group use.

5) Valentines Cards Syllable Sort – Print out and cut up into individual cards. Print out the sorting mats. Ask kids to sort out the 36 picture cards into the mailbox that shows the correct number of syllables.

6) 1-10 Memory Game – There are 3 ways to play this game. Print out 2 copies of the tally version and cut up into individual cards. Place them face down and then ask your child to turn over 2 at a time trying to find the match. You could do the same with the number version. As a third option, print out both the tally and number cards so kids can practice memory skills and subitizing.

7) Roll to 100 – You’ll find a special printable hearts design dice included with this game but you can also use a normal dice. Throw the dice and color/cover the numbers or move a piece along until you reach the number 100.

8) 1-10 Lego Mats – Kids can practice writing out the number and forming the number with blocks.

9) 1-10 Number Tracing Strips – This is perfect for a simple writing center. Print out, cut up into strips and laminate them so kids can use dry erase markers and practice multiple times.

10) Which Has More Clip Cards – Kids will need to identify which group of chocolates is larger.
